Chapter Five

Kade POV:

I stormed into Samuel's office when he called for a meeting.

"I'm gonna kill that mother fucker." I said, angrily and smashed a vase that was on Samuel's desk.

"Hey! Don't go destroying my office, Kade." Samuel said, warningly.

"Sorry, boss." I muttered and sat down.

"Don't let your feelings for Sarah cloud your judgment." He told me.

I looked up at him in surprise. How the hell did he know?

"Please, man. Don't look so surprised. The only person that doesn't know is Sarah." Ryder said with a smirk.

I rolled my eyes and looked down at my feet.

"What do we do?" I asked. "Well, he goes to the same university that Sarah and Lana do. I say we send someone to keep an eye on him. Also to protect Sarah." Samuel told all of us.

"That might work." Ryder replied.

"I can do it. I'm around the same age and Adam has never met me before." Lane said, a newer member said. "We have a plan then." Samuel responded and dismissed everyone.

Lana POV:

Dad and Kade were so angry. I expected them to be but they scared me a little. I'd never seen Kade so furious.

Kade had always been the one to protect me when we were kids. I remember the day we first met. It was when dad was patching in his father. He was so short and chubby. He was extremely sweet and friendly. We became friends in no time and spent nearly every single day together.

Lana was disinfected the cut on my lip carefully.

"How do you feel?" She asked me. "Better, I guess." I said.

I couldn't help but think of Kade's reaction.

"Kade was so angry." I said, softly. "He cares about you." Lana replied. "I know he does." I told her.

I took a deep breath and then looked at her.

"So you and Cole are over, huh?" I asked.

A couple of nights earlier, Lana came home, crying. She told me that she had caught Cole kissing another girl. We really need to stay away from men for a while.

"Yeah, we are." She replied.

"So can I ask why Ryder came by last night?" I asked. She only blushed and looked away.

"I just needed him. No offence to you or anything." She said, causing us to both laugh lightly.

She had no idea but Ryder was so fucking in love with her, he couldn't see straight.

"He loves you." I sang, teasingly. She smacked my arm, lightly. "Shut up. He does not. He's my best friend. That would be weird." She replied.

Yeah, whatever.

Lana and I went back downstairs after we finished up and sat back down with the guys.

"Sarah, I think you should stay out of class for just a few days. At least until we figure this out, okay?" Dad asked. "Okay, dad." I didn't have it in me to argue with him over it.

I then remembered what Adam had told me that morning. "Can I stay here tonight?" I asked.

"Of course. You, Lana and I can have a movie night like when you were kids." He told me.

I smiled at the statement.

"That sounds great, dad." I replied.

That had been the first genuine smile that had come across my face in a long time. I was relieved that I was finally away from Adam but I was worried he would try to come back around.
