Something Right

PROLOGUE

IN an island, Kaidic can’t see a single person other than him and Amethyst. He can’t remember how they got there too. They are both wearing white and holding each other’s hands tight.

“Why are we here? Ah, I get it. We just got married. Are we here for our honeymoon?” he said excitedly.

“We got married but this isn’t our honeymoon,” Amethyst answered, sad-eyed which made him frown.

His smile disappeared seeing Amethyst’s expression. “Then why are we here?

“We have to break apart now,” Amethyst said letting go of his hands.

“No,” he held her hand tightly. “There is no way we will break apart. We promised to be together till eternity.

“That’s no longer possible, Kai. You have to go back.

“I don’t get it. Go back to where?

“Whatever happens, know that I would still love you forever. Goodbye,” she manage to escape his grip and run towards the sea.

“No, please don’t leave me, Amethyst!” He tried to follow her but he couldn’t move. When he looked at his feet, it was covered with sand. He tried to escape but he just can’t no matter how he tried to dig. When he looked back at the sea, Amethyst was no longer there.

“AMETHYST!” he opened his eyes and close it again until he got used to the light. With the white surrounding and machines connected to his body, no doubt he is in the hospital.

“W-why am I here?

Slowly, his last memory of what happened came back. He was inside the car with his wife heading to the reception when the trailer truck hits them.

“Amethyst.

It seems like his feet got affected by the accident as he can’t move them. It could also mean that his wife got badly hurt too. He needs to know her condition. He felt a sting in his arm as the IV got removed when he fell on the floor but he didn’t mind it.

“Amethyst? Mom? Where are you? Amethyst!

He can feel his whole body aching but he still continued crawling when the door opens.

“Son!” worry and fear is evident in his mom’s face.

“Mom, where’s Amethyst? I want to see her. Is she okay?

She went to his side but got no answer from her. She just cried.

“Mom, answer me, please. Where’s my wife? P-please tell me she’s alive.

His mom hugs him. “I’m sorry, son. A-Amethyst is gone.

“No. That’s not true,” he breaks free from his mom’s hug.

“I’m sorry but I believe it’s better this way, Kaidic. Before you two sinned even more.

“W-what do you mean, Mom?

“A-Amethyst, s-she’s your half sister, son.

His head hurts so much from the accident and with all that’s he’s hearing at the moment. He’s not even sure if he’s hearing everything right, if he’s awake or if he’s just dreaming.

“T-that’s impossible. She’s not my sister, she’s my wife! No, this is not happening. I’m just dreaming, right? I need to wake up,” he tried to crawl but it feels like all the strength he has disappeared.

When he woke up again, his friends, Bray and James were in his room talking and it seems like they didn’t notice he’s already awake.

“I talked with her mom so we could go to her wake but she said she had Amethyst’s body cremated and had it buried right away.

“Did she tell you where?

“Yeah. I’m planning to go there with Jane after her work.

“Then I’ll just go with you guys too.

“S-she’s not dead,” he interrupted.

Bray run to his side to support him as he forced himself to get up.

“Hey, don’t force yourself to move. You still have to rest.

“You take care of him, Bray, I’ll just call a doctor,” James said hurrying to go outside.

“T-tell me, Bray, I was just dreaming that time, right? Tell me it’s not true. Tell me she’s not my sister.

He saw how confuse Bray was with what he said. “W-who?

“M-Mom told me she’s my sister but I don’t believe it. And the more I don’t believe that she’s dead. So please, take me to where my wife is.

When the door opens, James came in with a doctor and a nurse.

“No, no, help me, Bray, I don’t want to sleep again. I already had enough rest. Please, take me to Amethyst.

“I understand what you feel right now but you still need to rest and recover, Kai. I promise, we’ll go there once you get better.

He tried to resist when the nurse held him.

“No, please. A-Amethyst,” the needle penetrates in his arm and slowly, he felt weaker and lost consciousness.

The next days, he end up being sedated as he always try to escape from his room everytime he wakes up. He realized that that would only take him longer to see Amethyst so he finally obeyed and calmed himself. Until one day, though he still can’t move his feet and still needs therapy, the doctor finally gave him a go signal to leave.

For weeks, he keeps on convincing himself that everything his mom told him weren’t true. But now that his friends and his mom brought him in the cemetery, his hope and belief are slowly crashing down.

“We’re here,” said Bray after they reach a columbarium with Amethyst’s name in one of the niches.

He tried to get up from the wheel chair but ended up falling on the ground.

“T-this is not real. A-Amethyst.

His tears starts pooling in his eyes. He clutched his hand in his chest as his heart hurts so much that he can’t breath.

“W-we promised to be together forever. Why did you left me like this? W-we just got married.

He doesn’t care if people would judge him immoral for loving his sister that way. As if that still matters for him. His wife’s already gone. They can no longer do the things they planned together. The family that they wished to have.

Losing the love of his life, there’s no way he could still live happily. He’d rather be with her and sin than live a life without her.

“Take me with you, Amethyst.

“Son, what are you-.

He held the bottle with flowers and break it and used the broken glass to harm himself. He made a deep cut on his wrist before his friends managed to get it from him.

“Y-you can’t die, son. You’re all that I have.

He can hear his mom crying hysterically while hugging him in her arms. That’s only when the thought of leaving his mom alone came to his mind.
