CHAPTER FIVE

WHEN Sairah opens her eyes, she’s no longer in the bathroom but lying in a bed with a woman in white, back facing her.

“She’s six weeks pregnant. With her current condition, I suggest complete bed rest for the meantime. Your baby is kind of weak so we need to make the mother healthy for the baby to survive. And please, avoid giving her stress and making her emotional.

She frowned thinking who she’s talking with. It’s like she’s talking to her husband which she doesn’t have. Then, is she talking to someone else’s guardian?

Her eyes widen and mouth left open when the doctor left and she finally saw the guy she was talking with a while ago. Their eyes met and it took a few seconds before she recovered from shock and reacted .

“Sir- aw!” she held her temple when her head suddenly hurt after sitting up so sudden.

“Hey, be careful,” in a flash, Sir Bray is already beside her, worry visible in his face. “Are you okay?

She slightly nod. “Y-yes, Sir. I’m sorry she have mistaken you as my husband,” evading his gaze since it’s already obvious what he’d talk about next.

“That doesn’t matter. What matters is that you lied. You said you’re not pregnant.

“I-I didn’t lie, Sir. That time, I still don’t know I’m pregnant.

He heard him sigh. “Did you hear what the doctor said?

She nod, still not looking at him.

“And I guess you also know what’s going to happen next.

Tears starts to flow in her eyes as she knows she can no longer make an alibi and would lose her job.

“I-I know it’s your rule, Sir but I really can’t lose this job. I need my job to pay my father’s hospital bill, my siblings’ studies and now, my baby’s future. Please, Sir, don’t fire me.

She heard Sir Bray took another deep sigh.

“I’m sorry but after what the doctor told me, firing you is the best I think I can do for you and your baby, Sairah. Just look for another job that’s less stressful. A job where you wont need to stay up late. And don’t worry, I’ll give you your full salary for this month and separation pay. That’s all I can do to help you.

“By the way, I tried to call your emergency number but it’s not working. Do you have your other family member’s number so I can call them to look after you?

“No need, Sir. I’ll just go home. I just lost my job so I can’t waste money. I’ll just rest in our house,” she said as she wipe her tears which still keeps on pouring.

They got silent for a while before Bray offered to send her home which she didn’t refuse. She’s too drained and just want to go home fast and rest.

“You’re staying here?

“Yes, Sir. My cousin is letting me and my siblings stay in one of his apartment. Why, Sir?

“Nothing. I just knew someone who’s staying here. So, I’ll go ahead, Sairah. We’ll just update you for your last salary.

She just nod in response. What else can she do? She can no longer change her boss’ mind. She’s now officially jobless.

“FUCK! Leave,” he click his tongue.

Jenny looked at him, confused. “Y-you want me to leave? But we’re just-.

“You heard me, didn’t you?” he said in annoyed tone. “Take your payment and leave,” he said without looking at Jenny and headed to the bathroom and turned on the shower.

“Fucking neighbors,” he said while brushing his hair with his hands.

The reason why Kaidic transferred to that apartment is because of the fact that they don’t accept families with children. Meaning, no noisy children would play around and cry at night. He wants a peaceful surrounding for himself. He was just gone for six weeks but now, suddenly, the neighbor next door is so loud and noisy!

He consulted the land lady about it but he was just told that his neighbor is a family of the owner. That they’d just return his payment for his advances if he decides to leave which is definitely his plan.

But it doesn’t mean he’ll just tolerate them while he’s still there. They just disturbed his fucking sex life!

“HEY, stop playing around, David, Kurt! Didn’t I tell you guys to keep quiet? We’re no longer in our old neighborhood. People living here are all working. Do you want us to get evicted again? Do you kids wants to live in the street?

She knows that David and Kurt were in the age that kids loves to play. David is nine and Kurt is seven. But then, they also have to respect their neighbors which she thinks her brothers not care about since they still continue on playing.

“You’re too grumpy these days. Are you pregnant? But you don’t have a boyfriend,” said her sister Livi who’s seven years younger than her. “Maybe menopausal? You’re just twenty six though.

She doesn’t know if she’d laugh or what with her sister’s serious face . She’s obviously just joking around not knowing half of it was really true. And she can’t keep that fact forever from them. Her siblings has to know especially now that she lost her job.

“What if I’m really pregnant?

Her younger sister’s eyes widen. “For real? Who’s the father?

Like it was on cue, somebody knocks on the door.

“Oh my God. Is that him? Why you’re introducing him to us just now?” Livi went to open the door.

“Hey, I don’t even know who that-,” she got speechless when she saw the tall guy in front of her sister. There’s no way she’d not recognize this guy.

“Are you my sister’s boyfriend?

His hair is still wet that some of it are covering his eyes. He’s just wearing a plain black shirt and black skinny jeans but he still looked so stunning and handsome. With his pissed off looking face, it only made him more attractive.
