Chapter 5: A Promise

--Michelle--

After classes, I met with Blaze at the coffee house.

"So, tell me why is she letting him do this to her?"

"I honestly don't know, I keep telling her to break up with him. But she claims she loves him and can't leave him." I sighed.

"But that's toxic, staying with him can lead to tragic consequences, more than a punch." He said.

I honestly had no idea why I was telling this to a stranger, but he gave me the, I can trust you vibe.

"It is, and I really hate him. He's a very intimidating person. Kinda like you, except he's a twitledick and you're not."

"A what?"

"In a rude way, he's a dick. Always treating her bad. And it hurts me because Aviana is my best friend and sister." I said as a few tears escaped.

"We will help her, that's a promise." He said with a serious look. I think someone was finally gonna save Aviana and he was gonna show her what love really is.

--Aviana--

I went home and my brother was on the couch watching TV. I walked towards him and took a seat next to him. he pulled me into a hug.

"You okay, munchkin?" He asked.

"Yeah, are you busy today?" I asked.

"Nope, I'm free. Michelle said she was busy and I'm lazy." He said making me chuckle.

"Will you stay all day with me, watch movies and eat all kinds of junk food, please?" I said with teary eyes.

"What's going on?"

"Nothing, mother nature just hit me and I want to be with my big brother." I smiled while wiping my tears.

"Alright, marathon and junk food it is." He smiled back.

--Mason--

I knew there's more than what she was telling me. But I knew she needed me today.

"Alright munchkin, just us today. No interruption and phones away." I said as she nodded.

"Thank you." She hugged me.

I wish she would tell me what's going on, but getting her to talk is hard, I want to help her cause I know she's going through something.

"Is Justin hurting you?"

"No, he's very sweet. He would never hurt me." She said simply. I somehow don't believe this. I never liked Justin.

I dropped the subject and spent the day with her. She used to be more happy. Now she only jokes to hide her emotions. It's a like a defense mechanism.

--Aviana--

After our marathon we saw the hour and it was 1am.

"Thanks for today, Mason. I love you big bro." I hugged him.

"Anything for you, baby sis." He hugged back. We said goodnight and went to sleep.

As soon as my head hit the pillow I was out. Too many emotions for a day.

Mason got out of his room and went to grab water, but he saw my phone on the coffee table he picked it up and took it to his room. Somehow him having my phone was gonna be trouble.

Next day I woke up and didn't see my phone next to me, I got out and saw it on the coffee table. Phew. I picked it up and didn't see any text or missed calls from Justin. That's a good thing.

"Morning, princess." Dad said.

"Hey, dad." I gave him a hug.

"Where's everyone?" I asked.

"Your mother is sleeping, and Mason went out really early. So it's just you and me. Wanna make breakfast?"

"Yes." I smiled. We grabbed all the ingredients to make pancakes.

I got to say, it felt nice to breathe for a little. Not waking up to texts or calls from Justin felt really nice.

Once the pancakes were done, we set the table, and minutes later mom came outside.

"Smells so good, is there any bacon?" She asked.

"Yup, everything is on the table." I said as she walked over to me and hugged me. We went to sit down and enjoyed breakfast.

--Mason--

I called Michelle and told her about the texts, she said she was gonna meet me with someone who's also worried about Aviana.

Minutes later, she arrived with a dude.

"Hey babe." She gave me a kiss.

"Blaze, meet Mason. Aviana's older brother." She said as we shook hands.

"So, why the interest in my sister? You better not have other intentions."

"Trust me I don't plan on hurting her, I want to help her, when we met she had pain and fear in her eyes. She also had bruises on her cheek and wrist. I knew she was suffering. And I just want to help her."

"I hate guys who lay hands on women, they're just fucking cowards." He said with anger.

"Alright, I sent the text to my phone and blocked his number. She needs a day off him. And if we have our way, it will be forever." I said as they both nodded.
