Alex
— The pain I feel is so great — I comment to Humberto as I hold the photo of my children.
"My friend, it's going to be all right. Your kids will be here soon and Renata will be arrested.” He speaks and I want to believe what she says, but it's hard.
— Where's Jackeline? I ask, looking for her and not finding her.
“She said she was going to get some water and meet us,” she says, and I get up and follow her out.
"Jack... Jack... Jackeline?" “I call her, I don't see her, and I start looking around the apartment.
I enter my room and then I go to the bathroom always calling her, but no sign of her. I go downstairs, look for her in the other rooms, Humberto helps me, and nothing.
"I can't find her anywhere!" — I hear Humberto speak.
- The safe box! - I talk. I run to my office and see it open. - No! No! - shout.
— What happened? — Humberto asks me and I answer altered.
- She left! — I start pacing back and forth. I pick up my cell phone and try to call her. Humberto, not understanding anything, asks.
"What do you mean, did she leave?" he asks surprised.
“Yes, she left. I'm trying to call her, but she won't answer. “I'm frustrated.
'Where could she have gone?' – Humberto asks.
— Behind Renata. It can only be this! “I get desperate.
“She'll show up. You will see! he says hopefully.
- Hope so! I reply, wanting to have his hope.
The doorbell rings, I run, expecting to be Jackeline. I open the door and my heart breaks. They were police officers Alves and Faria.
— Mr Mendonça, how are you? the policewoman Faria asks.
- Not good! I'm worried about the disappearance of my children and now also about my girlfriend! I burst out nervously, step out the door and let them through. I'm really scared of what might happen to them.
"Don't you know where Miss Baptista is?"
- NO! I declare and punch the wall.
"Have you tried talking to her?" the policewoman Faria asks.
“Yes, but she doesn't answer me. I've called over and over again.
"Alex, isn't Jackeline at the barracks?" asks Humberto and I look at him with hope.
- It might be. When we left the station, she was talking to her boss. I'll call Rubens now. I take out my cell phone and make the call.
— Hello, Alex! How is everything? — Rubens says as soon as she answers me.
“No. Nothing is okay. Renata kidnapped my kids and Jackeline disappeared. Is she not with you? I ask, afraid of the answer.
"Sorry, I didn't see or speak to her today!" I hear her answer and I'm on alert.
“Reubens, that's impossible. I was on Jack's side when she spoke to you today,” I say desperately. And everyone in the room looks at me without understanding anything.
“No, Alex, impossible. I've been in a meeting all day,” he replies and I don't understand what happened.
"So who was she talking to if she wasn't you?" I ask, confused.
“I have no idea, Alex. I'll check here if anyone spoke to her today and get back to her — he says, I thank her and we end the call. Humberto looks at me and asks.
- Then?
“I think Jackeline was talking to Renata and not her boss,” I reply and try to remember if I heard anything from the conversation.
— And why do you think she was talking to Renata? – Police officer Alves asks curiously.
— Just as we were in the police station parking lot, she got a call. Do you remember? I ask looking at them, who agree with me and continue. — It could only have been Renata. I'll call Jackeline again.
— If she went to meet Renata, we need to find her — police officer Alves says and looks at his friend, who nods in agreement.
— Mr Mendonça, I need Miss Baptista's phone number — police officer Faria asks and I give her her phone number. “I saved it here. I'll pass this number to the central so that her cell phone can be traced.
- OK! They need to find Jackeline and also my children – I ask them.
— And we're going to find them — police officer Alves says. I see officer Peres call the central and give Jackeline's number. She looks at me and says. — Mr Mendonça, try calling her now. Let's do the tracking.
- OK! I try calling again, hoping she answers. “Come on Jackeline, pick up, go.
“Hello.” she answers.
“Jackeline, for God's sake. Where are you? I cry out in relief that she has finally answered me.
“I'm at the barracks.” she lies. And I want to slap her.
- Lie! I called Rubens, and he hasn't even spoken to you today.
“Alex…” she calls to me and I feel something isn't right.
— Jackeline, please. Where are you? I ask again and look at Officer Faria, who motions for me to continue talking to her.
“I'm…” she stutters.
“Please don't tell me you're going after Renata. I ask in disbelief.
“I'm not,” she lies. My God, this woman wants to kill me from the heart!
"Please, will she tell me where you are?" I ask once more.
— I can't say.” His tone of voice tells me something isn't right.
"Don't do that..." I beg, desperate.
- I'm sorry! - says and ends the call. Damn Jackeline!
"We've managed to locate her!" – Police officer Faria says. I'm relieved. Police officer Faria gathers her team to go to the scene and I say.
"Can I please come along?" I ask anxiously.
— Sorry, but you can't go — the policeman Alves warns. — She is my girlfriend and they are my children! — I remember them.
“We know that, but we don't want another life on the line. Miss Colunga is obsessed and we don't know what she's capable of. – Faria responds. — I NEED to go with you! — I beg. “No. I'm sorry! — Police officer Alves denies it. - Come on! – Police officer Faria shouts, the entire team that was at my house leaves with her. And Humberto and I stayed in the apartment.
"Bruno, I need to find out where Jackeline and my children are," I say.
— You heard the police, we better wait here! — Humberto remembers and I shrug.
"I'm not going to stand here!" I'm going after them! I warn and start looking for my keys.
- What are you looking for? – Humberto asks me.
“I'm looking for my car keys,” I reply without finding them.
"Didn't she take it?" – Humberto asks.
“Oh, sure. She didn't have a car, and no doubt she took mine. Bruno you're the best!” I say and he doesn't understand. — I don't understand the reason for the joy. — The car has a GPS. I'm going to call the insurance company now and ask for the location of the vehicle. Thanks! I do as I say and get the location. - Ready. I already know where they are! I say as I hang up the phone.
- That is good! — Humberto talks about approval.
“I'm going to need your car. Do you come along? I ask.
"Of course, let's go!"
We left in Humberto's car towards the address I got. I arrive at the scene, I see an abandoned building and several police cars. I go down and head towards the building, but I see Caio and Valentina, who run towards me. I hug them tight and cry with emotion. They're shaken and crying, I check to see if they're hurt and I say.
- Calm down. Are you ok? I ask feeling relieved to see that they don't have any injuries.
- Yes Dad. I am fine! - Gaius responds, hugging me.
- I'm fine too! – Valentina says.
"Now, tell Dad, where's Jack?" -I ask. My biggest fear is that she won't come back to me or my children.
— She's in there with Renata, Daddy! She's hurt! I don't want her to die like Mom! - Gaius talks crying a lot. Valentina cries too, and I try to calm them down.
“My children, listen to what I'm going to say now, okay? I want you to stay with Uncle Humberto, all right? I pray for each of them.
- Yea! They respond and hug me.
"I'm going to get Jack!" — I run to the entrance of the building, but I am stopped by the police.
"Mr. Mendonça, you can't come in!" – Police officer Faria says.
“I'm going in,” I make it very clear.
— No. It won't — now the one who speaks, is the policeman Alves.
“I'm going to get my girlfriend out of there,” I decide.
“Miss Colunga won't let anyone in. She just wants her girlfriend! – Police officer Faria says, and I glare at her.
"She's crazy, I'm not leaving my girlfriend with her!" I say impetuously.
— Mr Mendonça, I understand — she says as if that would calm me down.
— No, you don't understand me, I need to go in, and I'm going now — I shout and, when I was about to say something else, I hear the sound of a shot. “No…” I yell.
I free myself from them and run inside the building. I call out Jackeline's name and get no answer. I look for every room I pass, and nothing.
"Come on baby, where are you?" I talk to myself. I run up to the next floor screaming. “Jackeline, love, where are you?
“Here…” “I hear. I go to meet her, and when I see her, my heart stops. I hug her and say:
"Baby, I found you. Thank God! I exclaim in relief when I find her.
"Alex... are the twins okay?" she asks babbling.
- Yes my dear. They are well! I respond by stroking her face. I realize that she is hurt and weak and I am afraid of losing her. "Jackeline, please don't let me..."
- Forgive me. I love you lots! - she says, almost closing her eyes and I scream:
“Come on, honey, don't leave me. Please! I ask, caressing her face. I put her on my lap and leave the place. “Jackeline, I'm taking you to the hospital. hold on!
“Alex…I'm dying…,” she stammers and I see her tears streaming down.
"No... you won't leave me!" I look at her shirt and see the bloodstain, increase.
"Alex... Tell the kids... that I... love them so much..." he asks, caressing my face.
"You'll say it yourself!" I tell her.
"I will love you forever... my little ogre... ice cream..." she whispers and passes out. I walk out of the building with Jackeline in my arms. The cops look at me and I scream.
“She needs to go to the hospital. Now! I cry desperately.
